John Mayer might be getting a little ahead of himself here with his ex Katy Perry’s recent post on his Instagram. The “Roar” singer made a sweet comment on a photo he shared, celebrating his father’s 90th birthday. Now, insiders are revealing to OK! exclusively that the “Heartbreak Warfare” crooner is telling friends that she wants him back, but could this just be a case of his already inflated ego?
John made the Instagram post back on October 11th with the caption "Happy 90th Birthday, Dad! Leave doting comments about my dad below. He’ll love scrolling through it. Also please stop this train. Thank you.” “The Train” in this instance refers to a hit of his with the same name from 2006.
Katy’s comment on the post seemed innocent and very kind! “Looking fantastic as ever!” she wrote. “Happy birthday friend.” It looks like that triggered John to think she wants to get back together with him.
An insider revealed to OK! exclusively that, “John’s conceited enough to believe his own fantasies. He’s carried a torch for Katy since they broke up last year after dating off and on for three years and he assumes she wants him back.”
Conceited much? "John sees himself as god’s gift to women. Someone needs to bring him back down to Earth," the insider continued.

"She merely reacted to the sweet post he placed for his dad’s birthday. It wasn’t a proposal or anything," concludes the insider.
The history between John and Katy was complicated. The two of them dated on and off for three years before splitting up for good in 2016.
Maybe this is a simple way for her to get back in, or maybe his ego is getting too big for him.
