Jonathan Scott is gushing over his girlfriend on her very special day. The Property Brothers star, 41, honored his girlfriend Zooey Deschanel’s birthday with a heartfelt tribute on Instagram. The New Girl alum turned 40 on Friday, January 18.
“Happy Birthday to the beautiful human who brought joy and laughter back into my life,” the television star captioned the sweet snap of Zooey in a pink and red dress, holding a matching pink balloon. The Tin Man actress commented underneath the post, “I’m the luckiest girl kissing emoji and red heart emoji.”
Zooey also shared a post in honor of her big day. “Today I am celebrating 40 years of being on this planet!” she captioned a photo of herself surrounded by pink, yellow and confetti-filled balloons. “Life is wonderful, and I am so grateful for all the amazing people in mine. Thank you for all the birthday wishes, my heart is full.”
Jonathan and Zooey met while filming an episode of Carpool Karaoke with their siblings in August 2019 and began dating a month later. A source close to the two told People that Jonathan’s “great sense of humor” is what drew Zooey in during their time on James Corden’s show.

The insider continued, “They were all talented and spontaneous and they had a really fun time shooting the show. They started talking as friends and realized there was more to it.”
During an interview with People, Scott revealed that Zooey had blended seamlessly with his family. “It’s very, very important for me that the person I’m in love with also gets the approval of my whole family,” the HGTV star explained. “Absolutely everybody has clicked with Zooey.”
Prior to dating Zooey, Jonathan had been dating producer Jacinta Kuznetsov. The two first met at a charity gala in 2015 and started dating after an awkward first date. However, after almost three years of dating, the two called it quits in April 2018.
Meanwhile, Zooey was previously married to Jacob Pechenik. The actress and producer confirmed their engagement in January 2015 and got married later that same year. After four years of marriage, the couple announced on Friday, September 6, that they had decided to split. They share daughter Elsie and son Charlie.
