Jussie Smollett is now a suspect in his case by the Chicago PD. Chicago Police Departments Chief Communications Officer Anthony Guglielmi announced via Twitter that Jussie is classified as a suspect in the investigation of his alleged homophobic and racist attack.

The police wrote on Twitter, "Case Update: Jussie Smollett is now officially classified as a suspect in a criminal investigation by #ChicagoPolice for filing a false police report (Class 4 felony). Detectives are currently presenting evidence before a Cook County Grand Jury."

If the Empire actor is convicted of this crime he could face up to three years in federal prison.

On January 29, Jussie was hospitalized after a reported attack in Chicago. He was brutally hurt in a racist and homophobic assault.
