Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin shocked the world after they ran into a New York City courthouse and got married just twelve weeks after they started dating. In the March 2019 issue of Vogue, the newlyweds opened about the ups and downs in their whirlwind romance.
Justin and Hailey dated briefly three years ago and when they split, things didn't end well between the two. “Negative things happened that we still need to talk about and work through,” the 22-year-old supermodel explained. She described the breakup as "a very dramatic excommunication." Hailey added, "There was a period where if I walked into a room, he would walk out.”
Fast forward to June 2018, the two crossed paths again at a church conference in Miami. A month later, they were engaged.
Weeks after getting married in September 2018, Hailey admitted to feeling lonely and that the negative comments about her being the 24-year-old pop singer's wife weren't that easy to cope with. “I prayed to feel peace about the decision, and that’s where I landed,” Hailey said. “I love him very much. I have loved him for a long time.”

Despite their enormous smiles when they are out and about in New York packing on the PDA, Hailey admits that marriage is no walk in the park. “It’s just that I’m fighting to do this the right way, to build a healthy relationship,” Hailey explained. “I want people to know that. We’re coming from a really genuine place. But we’re two young people who are learning as we go. I’m not going to sit here and lie and say it’s all a magical fantasy. It’s always going to be hard."
She added, "It’s a choice. You don’t feel it every single day. You don’t wake up every day saying, ‘I’m absolutely so in love and you are perfect.’ That’s not what being married is. But there’s something beautiful about it anyway—about wanting to fight for something, commit to building with someone. We’re really young, and that’s a scary aspect. We’re going to change a lot. But we’re committed to growing together and supporting each other in those changes. That’s how I look at it. At the end of the day, too, he’s my best friend. I never get sick of him.”
