Some people weren't happy with Madonna's tribute to the late Aretha Franklin at the MTV VMAs on Monday night — and one of those people was Real Housewives of Atlanta star Kandi Burruss. Kandi slammed Madonna's tribute, saying that the pop star made it "all about her." Read on for more details.
"Did Madonna just tell that long a** f**king story to say 'thank you' to Aretha Franklin?" Kandi said in her Insta Stories during the VMAs. "She made that whole thing about her, when it should've just been about Aretha Franklin."
That's when the RHOA star rolled her eyes dramatically and let out a deep sigh. She also wasn't the only one offended by Madonna's tribute to Aretha, who passed away last week.
"Madonna making Aretha’s tribute about herself is honestly an inspiration to Leos everywhere," TV writer Ira Madison III tweeted.

"Who keeps thinking it's a good idea to hire Madonna to eulogize Black artists who have passed away?" someone else wrote.
"#Madonna is demonstrating a dynamic performance of peak white womanhood," another person added. "This was not an #Aretha tribute but a monologue on how another iconic Black woman is being reduced to how she helped a white woman."
