Did Kate Bosworth Just Spill The Beans On A 'Blue Crush' Sequel?
Kate Bosworth is ready to take on some waves! In a recent interview the actress revealed that she would be "100 percent in for a Blue Crush reboot,” and talked about the importance of "strong female characters" like her role as competitive surfer Anne Marie.
While it's been almost 17 years since Blue Crush debuted in theaters in August 2002, Kate, 36, is still interested in creating a sequel.
“I’m 100 percent in for a Blue Crush reboot,” the star told People at an event in NYC on Tuesday, June 11. “I have thoughts on how to do it.”
As fans know, the 2002 hit movie is about three female surfers, Kate, Michelle Rodriguez and Sànoe Lake, who train for a surfing competition, Pipeline, in Oahu, Hawaii. Although there is a movie called Blue Crush 2, which was released in 2011, it has no connection to the original film.

“What better time for a bad ass female reboot. Why not now? That would be a dream,” Kate said to the publication.
“I just love strong female characters, and I feel like right now it’s so important to see those strong female characters on screen," she added.
"If I’m a part of something that inspires and it has longevity — that’s it for me," Kate concluded.
