Allison Calhoun Dennis, mother of Southern Charm star Kathryn Dennis, passed away on August 7 at the age of 59.
A source close to the family confirmed the news on August 8 to People. Allison died of an extended illness she suffered from since early 2018.
“Their family requests privacy while they mourn with the sad loss,” a source told People. “They’re very private people and they want their time to cope.”
"My mom's my best friend. She stuck by me through so much. I don't know what I would do without her," the Southern Charm star, 26, said in April 2019.

Allison was a descendant of John C. Calhoun, the nation’s seventh vice president. She had previously battled cancer and lived with Kathryn at the time.
“She was sick for a year and a half and I was taking care of her,” Kathryn explained to People. “She’s since been living with me, essentially. It’s great to have her around, especially because she’s so good with the kids.” Kathryn has two children, Saint and Kensie.
She added, “She’s amazing. She’s the best mom I could ever hope for with everything.” Allison went to court to defend her daughter during her custody battle with Thomas Ravenel.
Funeral arrangements for Allison have yet to be announced.
