We all know Katy Perry claims to have kissed a girl and liked it, but it turns out the famous pop star may have done more than that! While receiving the National Equality Award at the Human Rights Campaign Gala over the weekend, the pop star revealed she’d gone beyond just simple flirty behavior with fellow girls in her youth, E! News reported. Growing up in a conservative Christian household, Katy admitted she felt so conflicted about her feelings that she tried to pray “the gay away in my Jesus camps.”
“I’m just a singer and songwriter, honestly. I speak my truths and I paint my fantasies into these little bite size pop songs,” Katy said while accepting the award. “For instance, ‘I kissed a girl and I liked it.’ Truth be told, I did more than that.”
“But how was I going to reconcile that with a gospel singing girl raised in youth groups that were pro-conversion camps? What I did know was I was curious, and even then I knew sexuality wasn’t as black and white as this dress,” she continued.
“And honestly, I haven’t always gotten it right but in 2008 when that song “I Kissed A Girl” came out, I know that I started a conversation, and a lot of the world seemed curious enough to sing along, too.”

Katy said her conservative “bubble started to burst” once she left her Gospel singing behind and joined the mainstream music scene: “These people were nothing like I had been taught to fear. They were the most free, strong, kind and inclusive people I have ever met.”
Since becoming famous, Katy has been tied to the likes of John Mayer and Orlando Bloom, whom she recently split from after ten months of dating.
