Kevin Spacey has finally responded to allegations made by actor Anthony Rapp that he made sexual advances toward him when he was just 14 years old. Spacey was 26 at the time. Now, a lot of people are criticizing the Oscar-winner for making excuses for his behavior.
In a statement on Twitter, Kevin wrote that he doesn't really "remember the encounter," since "it would have been over 30 years ago," but that if he did do anything inappropriate with Anthony, "I owe him the sincerest apology for what would have been deeply inappropriate drunken behavior."
"I am sorry for the feelings he describes having carried with him all these years," Kevin wrote. Anthony told BuzzFeed News that the incident happened at a party in 1986. He and Kevin were actors on Broadway and Kevin was having people over his apartment. At one point at the end of the night, Kevin picked him up, placed him on his bed and tried to "seduce" him.

Luckily, Anthony managed to get away from the much older actor. “I still to this day can't wrap my head around so many aspects of it," he said. "It's just deeply confusing to me.”
Kevin also wrote in his apology that he's had relationships with both men and women and is now choosing "to live as a gay man." He added, “I want to deal with this honestly and openly and that starts with examining my own behavior.” A lot of people are accusing the actor of coming up with excuses for his behavior and trying to distract from the assault by coming out.
Anthony wanted to come forward about this incident after so many women have accused Harvey Weinstein of sexual assault. He told BuzzFeed he didn't want to "simply air a grievance, but to try to shine another light on the decades of behavior that have been allowed to continue because many people, including myself, being silent… I'm feeling really awake to the moment that we're living in, and I'm hopeful that this can make a difference."
