Rumors of the cross-country move all began last week when Ye said earlier this week, “I’ve got to let y’all know that I’m moving back to Chicago and I’m never leaving again.”
However, an insider revealed to Us Weekly that though the family bought a home in the city, they will not be relocating and living there full-time.
"The family will continue to be based in Calabasas, where the kids will go to school,” the source said.

The close friend continued, “Yes, they have bought a house in Chicago, where they will spend a lot of time. It’s extremely important to Kim that the children know where their father came from and to spend as much time there as possible.”
There was also a more practical and personal reason for the Kardashian-West’s recent purchase. “Chicago is a place where the family can unwind a bit and not be hounded by photographers. Kanye has also been spending a lot more time with his dad, which also played a role in the decision to put down roots there,” the source explained.
The “Heard ‘Em Say” rapper was born in Atlanta but moved to Chicago at the age of three and considers it his true hometown.
