Kim Kardashian is celebrating a somber anniversary today, October 3. It marks two year since her harrowing ordeal in a Paris hotel room. The reality show star was held at gunpoint while masked men stole million of dollars in jewelry from her. Since then, the mom of 3 has worked hard to move past the traumatic experience. Read on to find what steps Kim took to get her life back on track.
In the immediate weeks and months after the robbery, Kim participated in a total media blackout. Suddenly the most talked about and photographed celebrity was nowhere to be found. She even celebrated her 36th birthday, which happened just over 2 weeks after the experience, with a low-key night at home.
The KKW mogul didn’t resume filming of KUWTK until 3 weeks after the Paris nightmare, and she didn’t make her 1st public appearance until January of 2017. She attended an event in Dubai for her makeup artist Mario Dedivanovic.
Just before her big Dubai trip, she returned to social media by sharing a sweet snap of her, Kanye, and their kids.
The most important change, however, came to Kim’s security team. At the time, a source explained to People, “She will have a much heavier security team. There will be a focus on security personnel who aren’t in traditional clothing, and a lot more undercover security.”

In addition to a shift in her security team, the now 38-year-old switched up her personal style. Gone were the days of her rocking huge flashy jewelry and accessories. Instead, she began to keep it cool and casual, and leave her more expensive pieces at home.
Kim also began to strengthen her personal life. During the time between the robbery and now, she’s managed to build a solid relationship with husband Kanye and welcome a new daughter, Chicago, into their family.
Ultimately, Kim has started to see the positive sides of her terrifying ordeal. During an appearance on Ellen she explained, “I know this sounds crazy, but I know that was meant to happen to me. I don’t want to start crying, but … I’m such a different person. I really feel like things happen in your life to teach you things."
