It's definitely a little country, a little rock and roll when it comes to Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani and their adorable relationship. The unlikely duo found true love after mutual heartbreak, and now two years later as a couple, they are still going strong!

It all began when they met in 2014 on NBC's hit singing competition show The Voice, with Gwen replacing coach Christina Aguilera, who went on a hiatus. Gwen seemed to hit it off immediately with her fellow coaches, Adam Levine, Pharrell Williams, and, of course, Blake. Nothing romantic sparked between Gwen and Blake at that time because they were each married to other people—Gwen to Gavin Rossdale and Blake to Miranda Lambert—but it was clear the two started up a great friendship.

Then the following year, they both went through painful splits with their respective spouses in the summer and by the end of 2015, Gwen and Blake made it official: They were an item. The rest, as we say, is history.
Here's a timeline of their sweet romance:
April 2014: Gwen joins The Voice
Gwen stepped into the role of The Voice coach, taking over from Christina Aguilera, who was taking a leave of absence to be with her new daughter. The singer joined fellow coaches Adam Levine, Pharrell Williams—and Blake Shelton.
The significance: The two future lovebirds met for the first time.
November 2014: Gwen posts first selfie with Blake
The two are smiling big time. She captions it “heart him.”
The significance: Of course, she also posted a bunch of pics with coach Pharrell Williams and such, but you can see a bit of a spark with Blake.
November 2014: Gwen really gels with her fellow Voice coaches
Gwen finished her debut on The Voice, making way for Christina's return, but Gwen clearly bonded with Pharrell, Adam and Blake, fitting in perfectly with the male testosterone. It was announced in 2015 that Stefani would return to The Voice in the fall.
The significance: At this point, not too many tongues were wagging because both Gwen and Blake were married to other people. As co-workers and friends, Gwen and Blake went on their merry way.
February 2015: Gwen admits The Voice changed her life
Gwen admitted in an interview with Carson Daly (also a host on The Voice) that her life got better when she signed up for the show. "Before that, I couldn't really write. I wanted to, but my life was just so…I don't even know how to describe it. I'm trying to find the words. Please help me find the words! I couldn't write. It just wasn't happening and I was so insecure about it and then, it just opened up. It was like this channel just opened up."
The significance: It's amazing how hanging out with like-minded people can spur creativity.
July 2015: Blake and Miranda Lambert divorce
The country stars shockingly announced they were splitting up after four years of marriage. "This is not the future we envisioned," reps for the couple said in a statement at the time. "And it is with heavy hearts that we move forward separately. We are real people, with real lives, with real families, friends and colleagues. Therefore, we kindly ask for privacy and compassion concerning this very personal matter."
The significance: The country music world was devastated by the news.
August 2015: Gwen announces her split from Gavin Rossdale
Uh-oh. After 13 years of marriage, the rocker couple also called it quits and settle on joint custody of their three sons, Kingston, Zuma, and Apollo. In a statement, they said, "While the two of us have come to the mutual decision that we will no longer be partners in marriage, we remain partners in parenthood and are committed to jointly raising our three sons in a happy and healthy environment."
The significance: This split did open Gwen and Blake up to the possibilities of more than a friendship.
September 2015: Gwen and Blake lean on each other for support
As the new season of The Voice began, Gwen and Blake were going through such similar difficulties that they naturally fell into an even closer bond. "I haven't met one coach that's been on this show that I wouldn't consider at this point a really good friend," Blake told Entertainment Tonight at the time. "Any of the coaches that I've worked with on this show I can call at any moment and talk to." Gwen added to that by saying The Voice has given her other more happy things to think about. "It's so amazing!" she told ET. "Honestly, I've had so much fun so far, and it's so motivating. I think this is the funnest thing I've ever done in my whole life work-wise."
The significance: The chemistry between the two was not going unnoticed and rumors began to circulate about a possible romance.
October 2015: Blake is peeved by the dating rumors
The two definitely did not want to admit anything was going on. Blake, in particular, was a bit bent out of shape about the gossip. He went on a minor Twitter rant, writing, "The stuff I read about myself blows my mind. Shouldn't I get to do all these things since I'm already accused of them?" continuing, "I literally just got back from FAR northern Quebec chasing caribou and now read about all the crazy stuff I've been doing lately?!! #WTF.” And then added, "Just watch and see how these tweets I just sent get spun.”
The significance: Doth protest too much?
October 2015: Gwen is more cavalier about it
She joked to ET about the two of them dating, "Have you read the news?" But said, "It seems like the cowboy is really happy on the show. We're all having so much fun on that show. Everybody is in such a good place."
The significance: Sure, rumors are annoying but come on, if Gwen and Blake weren't acting so damn cute together on the show, then the gossip wouldn't linger.
October 2015: More chemistry on display
Coaches Gwen, Blake, and Adam head off together for The Voice auditions across the country, and Gwen and Blake posted a few Instagram pics of them looking very chummy. They also appear on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon and performed an awkward rendition of Drake's "Hotline Bling."
The significance: Shelton really isn't up to speed on the hip-hop scene, and Stefani seemed to like to kid him about it. There was a such a familiarity between them.
Halloween 2015: Gwen and Blake hop the parties together
The two attended two separate Halloween parties—together. They were reportedly first spotted at George Clooney's Casamigos celebration before going to Jared Leto's party later that night. A source told E! they were holding hands at Jared's soiree and eventually ended up leaving together.
The significance: On her fun Halloween night with Blake, Gwen told Carson Daly, "We're just trying to have fun, you know? I was literally that party girl that you hear about when their life blows up.” Makes sense.
November 2015: The cat's out of the bag
It soon became too apparent that things between Gwen and Blake had turned romantic. A rep for Blake finally confirmed the two were indeed dating. "Gwen and Blake are longtime friends who have very recently started dating."
The significance: Talking with Ryan Seacrest at the time on his radio show, the No Doubt singer said they really bonded because of their respective divorces. "To be super honest, it is kind of crazy we both went through the same thing at the same time.” It's hard to beat that connection.
November 2015: The news hits Blake's ex Miranda Lambert hard
Gwen and Blake attended a country awards show in Nashville. Miranda was there, too, and looked stunning on the red carpet. A source told ET, however, that it was a tough night for the country star. "Miranda tried to seem happy, but you could tell she was hurting," the eyewitness said. "It was a great night for her because she won an award, but still hard for her."
The significance: It's always hard to run into your ex when he has already moved on.
January 2016: Blake gives Gwen a horse for her birthday
Being a down-home boy, Blake gave his new girlfriend a horse for her birthday in January. Blake told ET later, "I got her a horse and I got myself a horse at the same time. Gwen, she loves riding and she loves horses. It's actually so funny that people are so shocked by that, but if you can name me one girl on the planet that doesn't love horses or just thinks that they are beautiful."
The significance: That's a pretty substantial gift to give early in a relationship, so he must have really meant it.
January 2016: Gwen and Blake's PDA at a wedding
Gwen and Blake attended the Nashville wedding of Blake's hair stylist Amanda Craig, and the two couldn't hide their growing affection for one another. “Gwen and Blake were dancing most of the night,” an eyewitness told Us of the couple at the nuptials. “They were slow-dancing and kissing, as well as fast-dancing. The band was a Motown band, and they danced to songs like ‘Can’t Help Myself,’ ‘Get Ready’ and ‘My Girl.’” Apparently, Gwen also caught the bouquet—that's a good sign.
The significance: If a wedding doesn't make you want to be in love, then nothing will.
February 2016: The Vanity Fair Oscars after-party
Gwen and Blake finally made their debut as a couple when they attended the Vanity Fair 2016 Oscars after-party. Gwen, who performed at the event, stunned in a sheer red dress, and from the red carpet photos, Blake was smitten with his new girlfriend. A source told Us, "They made out. They were dancing together and kissing against a wall.” Another partygoer told Us. "They’re completely infatuated."
The significance: Letting the public know they were item was a big step forward.
March 2016: Their friend Pharrell Williams hearts the couple
When the two finally got together, fellow Voice coach Pharrell was ecstatic for them. The “Happy” singer told Today at the time, "It's poppin' off! It's so beautiful, because being there, I watched both of them go through a lot, you know. You hate to see your friends go through something so heavy, and it's kind of like a miracle, man--just watching that."
The significance: Getting the blessing from their colleagues must have also felt good for Gwen and Blake.
May 2016: Their duet at the Billboard Music Awards
Blake and Gwen showed everyone how in love they are during a super sweet performance of “Go Ahead and Break My Heart” at the Billboard Music Awards. They ended the performance by walking off the stage hand in hand.
The significance: Singing their hearts out to each other just melted everyone.
July 2016: Blake opens up about the relationship
With many still feeling like their new love was just a rebound situation, Blake talked candidly about his relationship with Gwen, which made it feel more grounded and genuine. In an interview with Billboard, the country singer said, “Gwen saved my life. Who else on earth could understand going through a high-profile divorce from another musician? You can’t even imagine the similarities in our divorces.”
The significance: Blake also said his new album, If I'm Honest, was about his divorce from Miranda and about finding love with Gwen. “You can learn some facts of my divorce. Maybe not specifics, but you can get a general idea about it. It is my divorce record, but maybe even more than that, it’s my happy, falling-in-love record too.”
August and September 2016: Marriage rumors abound
It was reported Gwen and Blake were ready to get married and that an engagement announcement was imminent. During an interview on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, the daytime talk show host asked the “Used To Love You” singer when she was getting married so could adequately prepare her schedule for it. “Oh, you’re crazy,” Gwen responded, laughing. “I’ll let you know.”
The significance: Whether or not the duo were secretly engaged, nothing was announced to the public regarding any sort of upcoming nuptials.
Early 2017: Keeping it low-key
In fact, Gwen and Blake decided to take themselves off the radar for a bit, feeling like their romance had been in the spotlight far too much. Blake went on tour for the first half of 2017, while Gwen laid low and didn't return to The Voice.
The significance: They clearly were in no rush to confirm any engagement/marriage/baby rumors.
October 2017: Adam Levine weighs in on the couple's relationship
Fellow Voice coach Adam Levine indicated they were still going strong, telling Howard Stern that Blake and Gwen were, “so in love it's disgusting.” The Maroon 5 singer added, “It's so funny. They found each other at really interesting times in their lives. It's really beautiful. Because it's in the public eye, a lot of people want to have their own bulls**t opinions about it, but I'm, like, there. I see it every day. I have a pretty unique perspective on it, and it's real, man."
The significance: Adam jokingly added, “I'm so affectionate and gross with my wife—but this is a whole other level of…vomit."
December 2017: Gwen and Blake do a holiday special together
Case in point: The two resurfaced during the holiday season for an NBC Christmas special, singing the song “You Make It Feel Like Christmas,” in honor of Gwen's album of the same name.

March 2018: Gwen laughs off rumors Blake dumped her
Then other more troublesome rumors started popping up that Blake broke up with Gwen right before he went back on tour. But the blonde beauty debunked those rumors by posting cuddly pics of the couple on Instagram.
The significance: Even if they are not engaged or spend time apart, the two are clearly still very much together.
April 2018: Gwen and Blake still going strong
Gwen sat down with host Ellen DeGeneres to talk about Blake, how they were doing and whether they were getting married anytime soon. Gwen sort of skirted the marriage question but said, “I love weddings. The kids love him. We love him. He's lovable. I think about it all the time.”Around the same time, Blake told CMT, “I think about marriage. I don’t think it’s anytime soon or anything. The more time that goes by, I guess, the closer you’d be getting to that.”
The significance: Whatever the future may bring, it looks like the duo is in a good place.
