Love & Hip Hop star Erica Mena and fiancé Safaree Samuels confirmed they're expecting a baby together on Tuesday, October 1. The couple has dealt with frequent pregnancy rumors over the course of their relationship so fans were delighted when they made the happy announcement.
"I'm excited but I told him Safaree that parenthood is not all about letting the kid do what it wants to do," Erica, 31, explained in a video for VH1. "I'm excited. I'm nervous. I'm in shock. I'm in disbelief. It's very surreal to me, so it's like, whoa I don't know what the hell to do but I know I'm going to be great because I'm great at everything," Safaree, 38, added.
Fans were quick to add their commentary. "Jamaican and Spanish?! Lord this baby gon be a firecracker congratulations!" one person wrote on Instagram. "I'm happy for Safaree he deserves a child of his own," another person added.
This will be the first child for Safaree and the second child for Erica. She welcomed son King, now 12, back in 2004 with ex Raul Conde. She got engaged to rapper Bow Wow in 2014 but they ended their engagement in 2015. Safaree famously dated Nicki Minaj for 12 years before they went their separate ways in 2014.

Erica and Safaree got together in November 2018 and got engaged over Christmas, shortly after the music producer revealed his goals of finding a lifelong partner. "I’m so serious when I say the next woman I have sex with will be my wife. I can go ages without sex, I don’t care about it. I’m looking for a wife. I want a relationship, something real. If you’re not trying to give that I’ll keep my meat wrapped around my leg 2myself. I already spend a lot of time alone so abstinence will not be a problem at all. This birthday made me realize something and I refuse to grow old and not have a mini me and some1 to share this world with," he wrote on Twitter in September 2018.
Pregnancy rumors first surfaced in April but Erica denied the speculation. The rumor mill started churning again in September and Safaree gave a coy response that didn't exactly confirm or deny anything. "Y’all been saying she’s pregnant since December. The Internet knows more than the people involved nowadays," he wrote on social media.
This was definitely a planned pregnancy. Erica revealed during an Instagram Live in March that she had been taking sea moss supplements to increase her fertility. "We’re trying to have a baby, so we’re putting it inside our drinks and stuff," she said.
