Mackenzie Mckee's mom Angie has lost her battle with cancer. The Teen Mom OG star's mother's Instagram page revealed the devastating news.
Angie passed away on Monday, December 9th. A post on her Instagram reads, "On Monday, December 9 at 11:37pm, Angie finished her race. Her last days were spent lovingly surrounded by family and friends as they prayed, sang, and shared funny Angie stories."
The post continued, "Angie found out about her cancer in January 2018. She wanted to keep everyone informed of what was going on so she made a social media post. The next day she made another. And then another. And what started as an easy way to convey information turned into wildfire of hope that spread over the world. She wasn’t able to sleep an entire night so she would wake up around 3am to write her posts. We watched her get up everyday in the darkest hours of the night to spread the brightest light that she knew of, her Savior Jesus Christ. There were times when she wrote her posts through pain and confusion. There were times at the end when she couldn’t type and would ask her daughters to type for her but she would not give up spreading the gospel message of hope. In nearly two years, she never missed her daily post...tomorrow she will. But this is where you pick up the baton and run like she did mighty warrior. You can choose this day to be like Angie and use your social media engagements to make a difference rather than disaster, to spread love and not hate, and to always be kind."
In January 2018, Mackenzie revealed that Angie was diagnosed with cancer. After breaking the news to their fans, the mother-daughter duo shared Angie's story hoping to inspire others around the world. At the time, Mackenzie said, "That’s all my mom wants, is to change the world. She just wants to inspire, even if God uses cancer and her life to change the world. I always thought I was going to change the world with my motivational speaking career and my fitness videos. Nope, my mom will change the world. I promise.”
In June 2018, Angie was diagnosed with a second lung cancer.
Before joining Teen Mom OG, MTV featured Mackenzie and her family on a special episode.
In March 2019, Angie released a book, God's Plan. The Amazon description reads, "Angie Douthit spent her entire life on fire for God. As a loving wife, mother, daughter, and friend, she measured the essence of life’s moments by her ability to personify God’s grace. A chance visit to the doctor, would reveal a life-altering discovery and force Angie to prepare for the battle of her life, and the ultimate test of her faith. God’s Plan, is the moving account of one woman’s heroic journey to love harder, discover divine purpose, and inspire the masses."

In August 2019, Mackenzie revealed that her mother stopped receiving chemo. At the time of the interview, she said, “We just got the news yesterday that her blood counts are too low to continue with chemo."
In early December, Mackenzie's mom went to the hospital. She wrote on Instagram, "Today was an interesting day. I woke up to get ready for work but I couldn’t really walk and I found myself throwing up. So I took a bath, layed back down, and called my boss to tell them I’d be late. The next thing I know I’m waking up trying to find my phone. I called my doctor who said to get to ER quickly. I called Brad to come and get me, since I couldn’t walk and I saw 2 or 3 of everything. The Dr. ran several tests and they are concerned about my liver, gall bladder, hip bone, and brain. They gave me some medicine and are keeping me overnight. But it’s ok. God already knew it was going to happen and He already knew that I was going to desperately need Him today. I’ve had to close my eyes all day because everything was double and wavy. By keeping my eyes closed I spent the day praying and listening. Whatever you are going through today, try your best to listen to God. Give Him all your fears, all your sicknesses, and all your worries. Let your trials produce perseverance in you and make you complete. #alwaysbekind #staystrongmightywarrior #itsonlycancer."
Shortly after, Angie revealed that they received horrible news. In a devastating Instagram post, Angie revealed the news. "Today was a little rough. Scans showed results that were not good. The cancer has grown in the liver and in the brain. There is also some hemorrhaging in the brain. I will have two more doses of radiation and that will be the last treatment I will be given," she wrote on a photo of herself with her husband Brad. "I should be able to go home in the next few days. We have decided to have hospice come in when I go home for some extra care. I haven’t been able to open my eyes all day and my head has been hurting badly. Kaylee has had to help me write this post. I’m not sure what to say... other than How God told me early in my diagnoses that He would heal me but I would have a long dark journey to take. I’m starting to think this is what He meant by long dark journey. So please pray for me that I will be strong and be able to stop vomiting. Also please pray that I will be a mighty warrior for Christ. I love every one of you. I thank you so much for your prayers. #alwaysbekind #staystrongmightywarrior #itsonlycancer."
Mackenzie told her fans that they would be celebrating Christmas early this year due to her mother's condition. Without telling her parents, the mother of three was raising money to help her dad with house payments.
Rest In Peace, Angie.
