Meghan Markle is making time to support her best friend Serena Williams before her maternity leave ends! On Friday, September 6, the royal reportedly flew commercial from London to make a quick solo trip to New York to watch the professional tennis player in action at the U.S. Open.
The new mother reportedly flew commercial, just a few days after she and Harry, 34, received backlash for flying privately.
“It is a last-minute trip,” another insider told The Times. “She is excited to support her friend, and then come back.”
On Thursday, September 5, Serena, 37, who is currently the 8th best women's tennis player in the world, won a match against Ukrainian player Elina Svitolina.
She will play against Canadian pro Bianca Andreescu on Saturday, September 7 at Arthur Ash stadium — with Meghan most likely supporting from the sidelines!
The former Suits star was last in the United States for her star-studded baby shower in February, which took place in Manhattan. Among the small group of people invited was Serena, Jessica Mulroney, Amal Clooney, Gayle King, Abigail Spencer and Misha Nonoo.
Meghan's quick NYC getaway comes just a few days before her first official engagement since giving birth to Archie in May. The brunette is reportedly launching a capsule workwear collection with Smart Works on September 12.
