Meghan Markle Shares Throwback Snap From Her Pre-Royal Life For Remembrance Day & Veterans Day

Meghan Markle may have moved across the pond to England, but she's still an American girl at heart. The Duchess of Sussex commemorated both Remembrance Day and Veterans Day on November 11 and honored the men and women who served in the military.

On the Sussex Royal Instagram account, the 38-year-old shared a fun throwback photo of herself, alongside other stars on a 2014 USO tour.

The former Suits actress was on the tour visiting Spain, Italy, Turkey, Afghanistan and the United Kingdom at the time.

The photo featured Meghan smiling with funnyman (and retired United States Marine Corps Reserve officer) Rob Riggle, country singer Kellie PicklerGlee star Dianna Agron, former Chicago Bears player Brian Urlacher, and Washington Nationals pitcher Doug Fister during the tour.

"Today is Remembrance Day and also Veterans Day in the United States, a day to honour those who have bravely served in the Armed Forces," the caption began. "Thank you to all, for your service, sacrifice and commitment. It has been an important week to recognise those who serve (and have served) as well as to acknowledge their families."

The post continued, "In 2014, The (now) Duchess of Sussex proudly went on @TheUSO tour with the Chairman of The Joint Chiefs of Staff, visiting troops in five countries: Spain, Italy, Turkey, Afghanistan and the United Kingdom. During this tour, The Duchess met with service personnel and their families and she was proud to recognise their service to the country. At the time, The Duchess said, 'I have always had such a profound respect for our nation’s troops and military families. I cannot thank them enough for everything they do for us.' #VeteransDay #RemembranceDay."

On November 7, Meghan made her first trip to the Field of Remembrance event with her husband Prince Harry. The Duke of Sussex, 35, attended the ceremony solo for the past two years. The couple attended the service and participated in the event that honors military servicemen who died in war. The royal family and members of the public planted crosses at Westminster Abbey in memory of those who have lost their lives while fighting.

Meghan and Harry joined his brother Prince Williaand his wife Kate Middleton at the Festival of Remembrance Service at Royal Albert Hall on November 9. The occasion was one of the many events leading up to Remembrance Sunday. The event marked the foursome's first public outing together since July.
