Mel B is having a difficult 2017. Following her father Martin’s tragic death, the former Spice Girl filed for divorce from her husband of nearly ten years, Stephen Belafonte. Then, just yesterday, cops raided her soon-to-be ex’s home to search for firearms. And now, old claims have begun to resurface which accuse the couple of having had an open marriage, complete with an alleged threesome with former British “it” girl, Lady Victoria Hervey. Mel was spotted getting in some “me” time at an L.A. beauty salon hours after her husband’s brush with the law, and it’s no wonder — this woman is in need of some pampering.
According to reports, agents from the Department of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms were seen entering Stephen’s home last night with a crowbar and mini battering ram. The officers were allegedly investigating “possible illegal possession of firearms,” the Daily Mail stated. Stephen denied reports that he had been handcuffed during the ordeal and even suggested it was a prank being played on him.
Despite his estranged wife’s recent divorce filing, Stephen was still wearing his wedding ring at the time of the incident, the Mirror reported. Mel, who met Stephen on the set of The Talk in 2007, filed for divorce on March 20, but the Daily Mail discovered that she listed their official separation date at December 28.
The death of Mel’s father Martin is thought to have pushed her to officially file for divorce. He died on March 4 after a five-year battle with multiple myeloma cancer. Mel recently flew to England for his funeral, where she reunited with her estranged family. According to the Daily Mail, Mel and her family had a falling out years ago over their dislike of Stephen.

Stephen’s own brother Jeremiah implied that Stephen may be responsible for his divorce. During an interview with the Kyle and Jackie O radio show in Australia, Jeremiah revealed that Stephen and Mel had “a very fun, loose, open kind of relationship” that Stephen may have taken too much advantage of. “He's not a bad guy by any means but he can be a little rough around the edges and he wasn't probably picking up on the signs that Melanie wasn't quite happy,” Jeremiah said.
This isn’t the first time it’s been suggested Mel and Stephen had an open relationship. In 2007, a source close to British “it” girl Lady Victoria Hervey told the Daily Mail that she’d once had a threesome with the couple.
With rumors swirling of what really caused their split, Mel has to prep for her return to America’s Got Talent, and producers are concerned these recent events will affect the normally cheerful host. “None of us have been told what she will do Monday and it will likely depend on her mood,” a friend told the Mirror. “Not only does she have the marriage to deal with but she is just fresh from her dad’s funeral.”
