Mel B may be going through it when it comes to her dramatic divorce from Stephen Belafonte, but she’s focusing her energy on the rest of her family, namely her mother, Andrea Brown, from whom she was estranged for years.

The mother and television personality shared a beautiful family photo as her mother and daughters smiled. Mel B was celebrating her birthday, and also paid homage to her dad, who passed away this year after a 5-year cancer battle.

For years, Mel B had a shaky relationship with her mom and sister because of none other than Stephen. The two did not approve of the marriage, and as fans know, they had reason to be concerned.

In court documents released during the divorce announcement, Mel B accuses Stephen of everything from cheating to physical and verbal abuse, which she dealt with since 2007, unbeknownst to the world.

And though she also had a rocky relationship with her sister Danielle, that didn’t stop her from going on a rant against Stephen on Instagram after the split. She wrote in part that he is a “sorry excuse of a man!”
