Venom star Michelle Williams is pregnant and engaged to Hamilton director Thomas Kail, Us Weekly confirmed on Monday, December 30. News of the Oscar nominee's split from husband Phil Elverum after less than a year of marriage broke in April 2019. The actress and her new fiancé were recently photographed shopping at a high-end baby boutique in London during her break from filming Venom 2.
Michelle, 39, is notoriously private about her personal life, so the news comes as a surprise to fans. It's unclear when her romance with Thomas began, but he directed her in the 2019 drama Fosse/Verdon. Her role in the film earned her an Emmy win for lead actress.

The My Life with Marilyn star got candid about her romantic life in Vanity Fair before her marriage to Phil. She revealed that she always held out hope that she would find a partner that loved her as much as Heath did before his death.
"I never gave up on love. I always say to Matilda, ‘Your dad loved me before anybody thought I was talented, or pretty, or had nice clothes.’ Obviously I’ve never once in my life talked about a relationship, but Phil isn’t anyone else. And that’s worth something. Ultimately the way he loves me is the way I want to live my life on the whole. I work to be free inside of the moment. I parent to let Matilda feel free to be herself, and I am finally loved by someone who makes me feel free," she gushed at the time.
She continued, "I don’t really want to talk about any of it. But there’s that tease, that lure, that’s like, What if this helps somebody? What if somebody who has always journeyed in this way, who has struggled as much as I struggled, and looked as much as I looked, finds something that helps them? Don’t settle. Don’t settle for something that feels like a prison, or is hard, or hurts you. If it doesn’t feel like love, it’s not love.”
