Michelle Williams got really candid in a recent interview with People in which she discussed the insecurity of her relationship with her pastor fiancé Chad Johnson. The former Destiny’s Child singer revealed there was one major hurdle she had to get over and it wasn’t their decision not to have sex until marriage. Read on for more details.
Michelle said in her interview, “I’m assuming a lot of relationships go through a period of time where one or more people get overwhelmed.”
She also divulged an unstable relationship past that left her insecure. “You don’t even know what it’s like to have real love because I’ve had to fight so much in past relationships: fight to have a place, fight for you to see me, fight for you to love me, fight for you to be faithful. In this relationship I didn’t have to do that, but I was so ready to fight,” she said.
Michelle and Chad got engaged in March earlier this year. The singer revealed that she went through a major depressive state which led her to break off the engagement for the first time. Three months after calling it off she entered a treatment program for severe depression.

“There was a period of time where we did not know if we were going to make it down the aisle,” she continued.
Chad even admitted his own personal struggle. “It had taken me a long time to get to this place of vulnerability and love and commitment. I picked up everything to move to L.A. with her and not long after she pulled the plug,” he said.
The couple eventually began premarital therapy together to build themselves up before they head down the aisle. Michelle was able to make light of the situation and joked, “What if he really leaves and this time next year I see him with somebody else? I’ll be like that Beyoncé song “Ring the Alarm!” ‘I’ll be damned if I see another chick on his arm.’”
