Nikki Bella Dumped John Cena Because He Acted 'Like He Was Doing Her A Favor'
April 17 2018, Updated 2:12 p.m. ET
John Cena and Nikki Bella called off their engagement weeks before they were set to get married, and now more details have surfaced as to why they called things off. On top of reportedly conflicting over whether or not they wanted to start a family, the 34-year-old beauty allegedly felt that John wasn’t as into taking the next step as she was, though he proposed in front of thousands of people.
“He was making it abundantly clear that he was going into this gritting his teeth the whole way,” a source told People. “Nikki is an amazing, talented, strong, one-of-a-kind woman.”
Nikki “doesn’t need a pity proposal, a pity wedding, or a pity husband,” added the insider, noting she is a “tremendous woman.”
The WWE stars got engaged in April 2017, with John proposing in front of 75,000 people at Wrestlemania 33 in Orlando.

“It’s hard for anyone not to wonder why he did it, and did it in this hugely public way, in the literal arena where he is most popular,” the source told People. “He knew exactly what sort of response he would get by doing that.”
“While this decision was a difficult one, we continue to have a great deal of love and respect for one another,” Nikki said in a statement on Twitter when they decided to split up. “We ask that you respect our privacy during this time in our lives.”
