‘Real Housewives Of Atlanta’ Star Kandi Burruss Starts Production On Old Lady Gang Restaurant Spin-Off
Kandi Burruss’ restaurant is coming to a tv screen near you. Production has officially begun for the 43-year-old's new spinoff series entitled Old Lady Gang after her soul food eatery, according to the Georgia film office.
The news initially broke in June 2019 that Kandi and her husband Todd Tucker were prepping for the restaurant spinoff, according to TheJasmineBrand who first reported it.
The Bravo star and her husband, 46, opened the restaurant in 2016 in Castleberry Hill. The idea was based on the recipes of “the Old Lady Gang” of Kandi’s mom Joyce Jones and aunts Nora and Bertha. After the success of their first location, Kandi and Todd went on to open two more locations, one in East Point, Georgia and another one inside of the State Farm Arena. As of now, it’s unclear if the series will focus exclusively on the main restaurant and its staff or cover all three locations.
This announcement comes just weeks after a terrible event took place at the East Point location on Friday, February 14. As OK! reported, on Valentine’s Day, a man walked into the OLG establishment and opened fire shooting three people. At the time, all victims were expected to be ok.

Shortly after the event, Kandi released a statement saying, “My family and I are truly saddened by the unfortunate events that occurred at Old Lady Gang (OLG) Camp Creek, on the evening of February 14th, an evening that was meant to celebrate love, unfortunately, turned into something quite different.”
She continued, “Our prayers and thoughts go out to the individuals that were harmed or in any way negatively impacted. We are aware that this matter is being actively investigated by law enforcement and we are cooperating with law enforcement to bring to justice those involved.” The Bravo star added, “As African-American business owners, it has been our goal to invest in our community by bringing jobs, quality dining, and a positive experience to the greater Atlanta area; we hope that you know and understand that the acts of violence that occurred yesterday evening do not, in any way, serve as a reflection of OLG or its values.”
Kandi concluded her statement saying, “We appreciate all of the love and prayers that have come our way and we encourage anyone with any information regarding any aspects of the events that occurred to please reach out to law enforcement as soon as possible.”
At the time, Police told WSB-TV 2 that the shooter targeted a man inside the Camp Creek Parkway location and also shot two bystanders. Authorities have yet to confirm a motive for the shooting, but they believed it was an isolated incident.
