After being denied non-supervised visits, Robin Thicke, accompanied by a monitor, was spotted taking his son, Julian, for a sushi date in Los Angeles, CA, on Thursday.
“Julian’s favorite food is sushi, and so Robin took him to Nobu and they had a really fun lunch,” a source told People. “Afterwards, they went back to Robin’s house and played sports in the backyard.”
The father-son pair reportedly “spent eight hours together and had a very, very good time,” said the insider. “Robin wanted to do something extra special that he knew Julian would love.”
Robin and his ex-wife Paula Patton have been in quite the heated custody battle, following Paula’s allegations that Robin was “excessively spanking” the former couple’s six-year-old son, which the singer vehemently denied.

Following Paula’s initial filing she was granted sole custody of Julian until their Feb. 24th court date after requesting a temporary restraining order against her ex. Robin was subsequently ordered to stay away from his son and ex-wife, other than his three supervised visits with Julian per week.
However, on Tuesday, Robin’s legal team requested either a “no monitor, a change in monitor or a ruling that said the monitor couldn’t make changes to Robin’s visitation” with his six-year-old son, but the court denied his team’s request.
A Paula source also told the mag that she “will continue to ask for sole custody for as long as she can” and “still wants a monitor present for all the visits” because she feels it is “the only way to fully protect Julian.”
