Shamari DeVoe Responds To Fans Who Say She Was Fired From 'Real Housewives Of Atlanta'
Shamari DeVoe is speaking her piece. On Thursday, September 27, the trailer for season 12 of Real Housewives of Atlanta was released and the singer/reality star was noticeably absent from the footage. Though she admitted that she is no longer a part of the long-running series, she shot down claims that she was fired.
Shortly after the trailer was posted, a fan asked “Why were you fired?” Shamari, 39, claimed she left of her own volition. “I was not ‘fired,’ sweet face.” she responded. “I chose not to return due to personal reasons. ‘The sun sets and rises when it’s ready.’”
However, according to Radar Online, after appearing on the show for only one season, Shamari, who is married to New Edition member Ronnie DeVoe, was demoted. “The producers told her that she’s not getting a peach,” an insider claimed before adding, “She was offered a daily rate to make appearances as a friend.”
“Shamari was told that she would make about $800 a day appearing a few times on the show,” the insider said.
However, the source claimed that alleged demotion could lead to bigger and better opportunities for the Blaque member. “If Shamari plays her cards right she can spin the demotion into something more and make it work more in her favor in the end,” the source said.

“Porsha Williams was demoted in Season 7, and look at her now! She has her own spin-off," the source added.
Rumors of Shamari's alleged demotion started the end of April when, during a bitter back and forth, her former castmate Marlo Hampton claimed that she was axed during a live stream on Instagram. “Shamari, come on now you’re peachless,” she said at the time. “You’re really still up here tweeting tonight? Peachless Shamari still tweeting.”
During her brief stint on RHOA, Shamari managed to leave a lasting impression. Most notably during Nene Leakes' infamous "Bye Wig" party, the Bring It On star got a little too drunk and threw up all over castmate Eva Marcille. “It was SO disgusting,” Eva recalled during the after show. “She had just ate crab, so I could smell the mercury.”
