Dancing with the Stars sent home another top contender last night. Despite earning two perfect 40 scores, Simone Biles still didn’t earn enough votes to make it through to next week. Instead, the Olympic gold medalist was sent home, shocking both judges and fans alike. After a rough performance last week, during which the judges criticized Simone for not smiling enough while dancing, the gymnast bounced back this week with perfection. Still, it wasn’t enough to save Simone from elimination!

“I am in absolute shock,” said co-host Erin Andrews when the results were announced. Judge Len Goodman put his hands over his head while Carrie Ann Inaba’s jaw dropped. Fellow judges Julianne Hough and Bruno Tonioli immediately got out of their chairs.

Despite the upsetting loss, Simone said she was still grateful for the opportunity to be on the show. “I'm just thankful to be at this competition. I've learned a lot about myself, I've matured and I can't wait to go home…but I’ll be back next week for the finale,” Simone said.

Simone isn’t the first shocking elimination from this season. A few weeks ago, Heather Morris, the former Glee actress and a professional dancer, was sent home despite earning the first perfect score of the season.

With Simone out, former Chicago Cubs catcher David Ross, NFL player Rashad Jennings, and Fifth Harmony singer Normani Kordei are all left to compete for the famed mirrorball trophy.
