Singer Michelle Williams congratulated actress Michelle Williams on her pregnancy and engagement on her Instagram Story. The Destiny's Child star received several well-wishes from fans on social media that were meant for the Dawson's Creek alum, so she decided to clear up the confusion after the news broke on Monday, December 30.
"A few comments are trickling in and of course I had to Google to see what was goin on! Congrats are certainly in order but for #dawsonscreek #fosseverdon #brokebackmountain #greatestshowman #manchesterbythesea ‘Michelle’ Ok bye," Michelle, 40, wrote.
The messages might have stung a little, considering the chart topper called off her own engagement to Chad Johnson in December 2018. They started dating in March 2017 and announced their engagement in April 2018, but Michelle revealed the following December that they were no longer planning to walk down the aisle.
"I still remain fearless. I guess I still remain single! Things didn’t work out. The healing that needs to take place is a must! I don’t wanna destroy another relationship. Blessings to him, his family and ministry. #FEARLESS,” she wrote on Instagram at the time. After her breakup, Michelle pulled out of her Broadway performance in Once On This Island after only three performances.
Meanwhile, movie star Michelle has seemingly found her happy ending. Just eight months after ending her marriage to husband Phil Elverum, the My Life with Marilyn star is engaged to and expecting a child with Hamilton director Thomas Kail. The happy developments came as a surprise to fans, as Michelle is notoriously private about her personal life. It's unclear when Michelle and Thomas first started dating, but he directed her in the 2019 drama Fosse/Verdon.
This will be Michelle's second child. She is a mother to daughter Matilda, 14, whom she shared with her late ex Heath Ledger. Before walking down the aisle with Phil in July 2018, the Oscar nominee opened up about keeping a positive outlook when it came to romance in an interview with Vanity Fair.
"I never gave up on love. I always say to Matilda, ‘Your dad loved me before anybody thought I was talented, or pretty, or had nice clothes.’ Obviously I’ve never once in my life talked about a relationship, but Phil isn’t anyone else. And that’s worth something. Ultimately the way he loves me is the way I want to live my life on the whole. I work to be free inside of the moment. I parent to let Matilda feel free to be herself, and I am finally loved by someone who makes me feel free," she gushed at the time.
