The 40-year-old international soccer superstar was humbled by the honor. “We kind of laughed about it with the boys and the boys kind of laughed at me and said, ‘Really?! Sexiest man alive? Really?’” he joked about telling his kids.

David and wife Victoria, 41, are proud parents to Brooklyn, 16, Romeo, 13, Cruz, 10 and Harper, 4.

The Brit said, “I mean it’s the best moment of my career, I can’t believe it.” Then he thanked the important people in his life, “I would obviously like to thank my parents for bringing me into this world, of course. I would like to thank my hairdresser, my stylist, photoshop.”

We’re pretty sure everyone else does! The announcement was made on Jimmy Kimmel Live on Nov. 17 with the audience playing a fun 20 questions game before David was revealed!
