Taylor Swift wants her fans to "calm down" but what exactly does she mean? On Friday, June 14, the pop icon released her newest single, "You Need To Calm Down," making it the second track on her upcoming album, Lover.
Taylor, 29, is slowly but surely releasing new content for her fans.
After dropping "You Need To Calm Down" at midnight, Beats Electronics tweeted a video of the singer explaining the meaning behind the song.
“I wanted to tell you a little bit about my single," she said. "I’ve observed a lot of different people in our society who put so much energy and effort into negativity and it made me feel like, ‘you need to just calm down,' like you're stressing yourself out. This seems like it's more about you than what you're going off about."
In the upbeat song, Taylor references internet shade and social media trolls. She even says, "Snakes and stones never broke my bones."
