Taylor Swift is still reeling over the drama between her and Kim Kardashian and Kanye West. On September 18, the “Lover” songstress spoke about defining events that lead up to the infamous phone call, and how it shaped her perception of the famous couple.

In an explosive interview with Rolling Stone, Taylor, 29, dove deeper into the drama with Kanye, 42, than ever before. She says that she decided he was two-faced in 2015 during the VMAs and was pushed over the edge with his “Famous” lyrics.
“The world didn’t understand the context and the events that led up to it,” Taylor explained. Because nothing ever just happens like that without some lead-up. Some events took place to cause me to be pissed off when Kanye West called me a b***h. That was not just a singular event.” The “Cornelia Street” singer said that she grew overwhelmed by their dynamic since the 2009 MTV VMAs incident. All she wanted was for the record producer to respect her.
"When someone doesn’t respect you so loudly and says you literally don’t deserve to be here — I just so badly wanted that respect from him, and I hate that about myself, that I was like, ‘This guy who’s antagonizing me, I just want his approval.’ But that’s where I was.” Taylor described how nice Kanye was to her, as they got dinner together and he complimented her on her music. It felt like she was “healing some childhood rejection.” The two were on good terms until the 2015 VMAs.
In 2015, Kanye received the Vanguard Award and asked the “ME!” songstress to present it to him. “He’s like, ‘I really, really would like for you to present this Vanguard Award to me, this would mean so much to me,’” Taylor recalled, “and went into all the reasons why it means so much, because he can be so sweet. He can be the sweetest. And I was so stoked that he asked me that.”

Taylor penned a speech for the “Stronger” rapper, and after she introduced him, Kanye screamed, “MTV got Taylor Swift up here to present me this award for ratings!” His exact words were, “You know how many times they announced Taylor was going to give me the award ’cause it got them more ratings?” Taylor was mortified.
"I’m standing in the audience with my arm around his wife, and this chill ran through my body,” she said. “I realized he is so two-faced. That he wants to be nice to me behind the scenes, but then he wants to look cool, get up in front of everyone and talk s**t. And I was so upset. He wanted me to come talk to him after the event in his dressing room. I wouldn’t go. So then he sent this big, big thing of flowers the next day to apologize.”
The “End Game” singer says she decided to let this be water under the bridge and move past the incident. Kanye later called up Taylor and was impressed by how respectful he was to her at the time. When he told her about the line, “me and Taylor might still have sex.” In the song “Famous," Taylor thought they were on good terms. She was sadly mistaken.
“And then when I heard the song, I was like, ‘I’m done with this,’” she said. “’If you want to be on bad terms, let’s be on bad terms, but just be real about it.’” Taylor described Kayne’s process as, “Getting close to you, earning your trust and detonating you.” If her latest interview is any indication, Taylor’s feud with Kanye is far from over.
