Tamera Mowry is reflecting on a tragic memory from her past. During the April 24 episode of The Real, the co-host spoke candidly about her uncle’s murder by his wife.
While discussing whether or not felons should be given the right to vote, Tamera admitted she was against the idea. “If you committed that crime you've lost your free right to vote because technically you are not a part of the free society anymore,” she said. “You've lost your freedom.”
The mom of the two shared a personal story about her uncle's murder. “My uncle, my late grandmother’s son, was murdered when he was 27 by his wife,” she revealed.
Tamera avoided more specific details about his death and revealed yet another tragedy.

“I have a friend whose sister-in-law was murdered by her husband,” she said before explaining that her proximity to these deaths influenced her stance on felon voting rights.
“When you think of murderers and you think of them being in prison and giving them that right to vote in that particular state of mind, I mean, that's hard,” she said.
“I feel like if you've done something that's not right, there is punishment for it,” she continued. “I feel like that's right, taking away voting, is a part of the punishment as harsh as that sounds."
