Derick Dillard Shuts Down Rumors About Sister-In-Law Jana Duggar’s Dating Life

Derick Dillard is clearing the air about his sister-in-law Jana Duggar! When a fan asked a personal question about the eldest Duggar daughter’s dating life, Jill Duggar’s controversial husband quickly shut down the idea.

Yesterday, a fan asked Derick on Twitter, “Is Jana dating her friend Lauren. There are tons of rumors flying. Set the record straight.” The fan most likely meant Jana’s friend Laura DeMasie, who has been featured on the family’s show Counting On and was even with Jana at the hospital when Jinger Duggar gave birth to her daughter Felicity.

While Jana is the eldest Duggar daughter at 28, she is the only one of the older girls who remains unmarried. Her sisters Jill, Jessa, Jinger, and Joy-Anna have all said, “I do.”

As a result of Jana remaining single as she approaches her 30s — practically unheard of for the Duggar girls — fans have created several theories for why she’s still single. Some theories include Jana’s parents Jim Bob and Michelle keep her single so she can help raise her younger siblings, while other fans think Jana is secretly dating her friend Laura.

Naturally, Derick shut down the idea. The one-time Counting On star was fired from the TLC show when he went on a transphobic Twitter rant against fellow TLC star Jazz Jennings. He later slammed TLC star Nate Berkus and his husband Jeremiah Brent for having a “travesty” of a family.

Fans weren’t surprised Derick slammed the theory. “Jana and Laura wouldn’t let it be known if they were dating, have you seen how homophobic their families are?” one fan replied. “Why would someone waste their time asking that question?” a fan on Reddit asked. “Obviously if they respond the answer is going to be no.”
