Cohost Joy Behar revealed on February 20 that the Oscar winner would be absent from taping due to health issues.
But today, Joy and her cohosts were in for a big surprise when Whoopi walked out onto the stage following Joy's introduction.
The 76-year-old began the show, "We're hoping she'll be back here soon, maybe next week. We'll see. Hurry back, Whoopi, and get better."

Right at that moment, Whoopi came out and the ladies couldn't help but freak out! The audience began cheering her name and gave an overwhelming round of applause.
The View hosts Sunny Hostin, Meghan McCain and Abby Huntsman gave the 63-year-old a big bear hug and showered her with love. "You should never leave me again ever! You can't leave the show. We missed you so much," Meghan exclaimed.
Whoopi sat down in her usual seat at the round table and gave an update on her health. "I still have a cough and that's the last thing to go apparently. But over the next week and a half I will start to be here more often, but I wanted the first foray to be to come see y'all because I really kind of missed y'all," she explained.
