Joy-Anna Duggar and her longtime best friend turned recent boyfriend, Austin Forsyth, got engaged on Thursday!
“We just got engaged!” the 9th oldest Duggar told Us Weekly. “I’m so excited to be engaged to my best friend — Austin made it so romantic, it’s amazing.”
“I'm just overwhelmed with emotion,” Austin gushed. “I'm so excited to be engaged because that means the next step is marriage, and I’m excited to see what the future holds for us!”
On a recent episode of Counting On, Austin asked for Joy-Anna’s dad Jim Bob’s blessing to enter into a courtship with the 19-year-old.
“You know, over the years, I have just been watching and I really admire her heart for the Lord and her character,” Austin explained to Jim. “She’s such a diligent worker. She gets all the younger siblings working. She’s a good delegator and then, of course, her beauty.”

Joy-Anna and Austin have been friends for nearly 15 years and announced they had officially started courting on Nov. 15.
