Following recent revelations that Brad Pitt's former girlfriend, Juliette Lewis, introduced him to Scientology in the early 1990s, it should come as no surprise that the controversial church constantly has its eyes on today's most sought-after celebrities. A source exclusively tells OK! that the movement is looking to enlist Meghan Markle.
"Recruiting Meghan would be a huge coup for Scientology. With the rape accusations against longtime Scientologist Danny Masterson and public interest fading fast in Tom Cruise, John Travolta and Kirstie Alley, they need a new star. Meghan is not only the most famous people in the world, she is also a member of the royal family," says the insider.
"Meghan has already changed her religion once. When she married Harry, she was baptized into the Church of England just before the wedding, dropping her Catholic school upbringing, so why wouldn't she do it again?" the source explains. "Scientology often appeals to people who are going through a difficult time, believing they could benefit from the tools Scientology provides. Meghan is certainly vulnerable at the moment, as she and Harry start their new lives in America."
Since the couple's royal exit earlier this year, the Suits alum and Prince Harry are ready to re-brand themselves as Hollywood stars, starting with a $150M Netflix deal to create content "that informs but also gives hope."
While the duo tried living in L.A., the father of one "absolutely hated" the lack of "privacy," as the couple wanted to give their son Archie a chance to "have as normal a life as possible." The 39-year-old and her 36-year-old husband finally found their "place of peace" at their new home in Santa Barbara, California.
Us reported that the power couple wanted "to be closer to the deal makers and are setting up calls and virtual meetings with agents, studio heads," as the lovebirds are "trying to rebrand themselves" in the public eye. "Harry's determined to make it in Hollywood, just as much as Meghan," the source dished, adding that Harry was "inspired" by his wife's creativity.
As OK! previously reported, there seems to be tension between the royal family and the Duchess of Sussex. In the royal family's most recent dig, Prince William, Kate Middleton, Prince Charles, Camilla Parker Bowles and Queen Elizabeth II took to social media to wish Harry a Happy Birthday, but they all happened to leave his wife out of their posts! Fans were quick to notice the absence of the actress-turned-princess, which comes as no surprise given that the California native has reportedly clashed with the family since she started dating Harry in 2016.
With Markle's vulnerability at an all-time high, we'll see if Scientology is able to dig their claws into the American actress.
