OK! Look of the Day: Kate Hudson at the Clear History Premiere
Aug. 1 2013, Published 2:10 p.m. ET
Kate Hudson looked smokin' hot at the LA premiere of the HBO film Clear History last night! I need this embellished, denim, patchwork Balmain dress in my life stat—seriously no one does a good mini like the French fashion house.
Not only was Kate's wardrobe choice on point (A+ for the Dana Rebecca Designs earrings too), but her beauty look as well! Celebrity makeup artist Melanie Inglessis created a strong, smoky eye for Almay's Global Brand Ambassador and we've got the deets on how to get it at home—keep reading for the step-by-step.

OK!: What was your inspiration behind her look tonight?
Melanie Inglessis: "It always starts with the dress. The dress for tonight is short, structured and textured and I wanted the makeup to reflect that and emphasize Kate’s eyes. I wanted to give her a rock and roll meets feminine look to reflect both the dress and Kate’s feminine and strong personality. With a bold, smoky eye everything else has to be simple, so I wanted her face to look fresh and dewy with beautiful sun-kissed cheekbones. I then focused on her eyes and built a deep smoky look by continuously blending the eyeliner, primer and shadow. I coated the top and bottom lashes twice with mascara to add a little more drama and complete the smoky eye. I kept the lip simple with a pale pink to pull the look together and really draw attention to the eyes.”

OK!: Which other beauty trends are you loving right now?
MI: "I’m loving a bold lip, beautiful strong pigmented colors, bright coral, fuchsia pink, strong pigments. I am a big fan of bright with a really strong, long-lasting pigment. It’s easy, I feel that you can have very little anything else. When I go out, I have very little makeup, but a bold lip can pull a look together."
