Can’t make it to NYC for Fashion Week? Don’t worry, OK!’s got you covered! Yesterday we headed over to check out the Milly runway show for a sneak peek at the designer’s spring collection and loved every minute!
SHOW: Milly
WHEN: Sept. 15.
WHO: Katrina Bowden, Natalie Morales, Tinsley Mortimer, Ramona Singer
FASHION: Eccentric New York art collector Peggy Guggenheim provided the colorful inspiration for Milly designer Michelle Smith’s bright, bold and thoroughly modern reinterpretation of old-school Upper East Side chic. Key pieces included bright fitted dresses in bold florals and swirling geometric prints, plus neat block-color cropped blazers with gilt buttons and zippers. Plenty of accessories added a ladylike polish, including chunky tribal-inspired necklaces in apricot and yellow, oversize shades and neat pumps in grays, blues and browns, and a brand new handbag collection, featuring classic structured shapes in full-grain, nappa and glossy patent leather.
BEAUTY: Long silky hair was tidied away from the face with surprisingly wearable turban-style headbands. Make-up – when not obscured by the show’s ubiquitous cats’ and owl-eye sunglasses – was a minimal affair; fresh matte faces with downplayed eyes and opaque apricot lips.
COLOR/OVERHEARD: Tinsley Mortimer sat front row wearing a silvery tweed Milly dress and black blazer with bang-on-trend sheer sleeves. She admitted that hitting the Richie Rich runway for his Pop Luxe show last Thursday was her fashion week highlight. “I was getting modeling pointers from Ellen,” the reality star told OK!. “She was giving me tips on how to walk because she learned how to slant her hips back and kick her legs out.”

Natalie Morales – who steered clear of the runway but did manage to attend three shows – wore a sparkly black fitted Milly dress front row. “This is a great little dress to go out with,” the Today show host told OK!. Admitting that her all-time style icon is Audrey Hepburn, she added: “Milly sort of harks back to Audrey Hepburn and that look. I think Michelle, the designer, really captures that sophisticated elegance and feminine flirtatiousness.”
