What Would the Countess Do?: Party Accidents; Awards Show Fashion

When it comes to etiquette, manners and overall good behavior, even celebrities need help navigating the rough waters of stardom! It’s a good thing Countess LuAnn de Lesseps of the Real Housewives of New York is joining forces with OK! to school them on the right thing to do! In a rough situation, we just ask, “What Would the Countess Do?” This week the Countess chimes in on Emmys fashion and dealing with party accidentsIf you spill a drink and cause a stain at a party, should you offer to pay for the repair, or is it the host's fault? Although it’s a kind gesture to offer to pay for stains, hosts have to accept that accidents may happen and guests spill drinks at parties all the time. Knowing that even the most graceful guest sometimes drops a drink, I have decorated my home in a people-friendly fashion, with hard wood floors, patterned rugs and earth toned upholstery. I also make sure that cocktail napkins are readily available throughout the room. Tip: Vodka doesn’t stain and can be used as a green cleaning solution after the party. WHAT WOULD THE COUNTESS DO?: A TIME FOR GIFTS; PUTTING UP WITH LATE PALS Fashion is such a huge part of awards shows. What do you think of this year’s Emmy red carpet? While watching this year’s Emmys red carpet pre-show, even though there were a few misses, there were a great number of beautiful dresses. Claire Danes looked amazing in a sleek Oscar de La Renta and Sofia Vergara’s Vera Wang gown was flowy and shapely at the same time. Let’s hope she copies that look for her new line at K Mart! Lastly, I was distressed by the lack of makeup on some of the stars. Tip: Trust your instincts when choosing a special occasion dress because if it doesn’t look good to you, it won’t look good to anyone else. Shiny is okay for the gym, but matte is better for the red carpet!
