‘Bachelorette’ Star Becca Kufrin Explains Why She Freaked Out After Colton Underwood’s Virginity Reveal
It was the “Really?” heard around the world. When Colton Underwood decided to tell Becca Kufrin that he’s a virgin on Monday’s episode of The Bachelorette, her reaction received so much backlash that she had to speak out about her behavior.
For those who are just catching up, here’s what happened when Colton told Becca about his v-card:
The 26-year-old former NFL player began the conversation by saying, “It’s hard for me to talk about because I haven’t talked about it very often. I told you earlier I used to put my professional life in front of my personal life. I spent a lot of time working on football Colton and I sort of forgot who personal Colton was. And I did only have one serious relationship coming into this and I haven’t had that many girlfriends or that many dates because of sports.”
He then nervously admitted, “And because of that I still am, I am a virgin.” So what was Becca’s response to the shocking news? “Really?” she replied, before awkwardly excusing herself from the table.
She did, however, come back and praise him for remaining true to himself, and said she didn’t want to pressure him. Colton also said that he’s not waiting for marriage, just “the right heart,” which Becca admitted she really liked.

Becca’s awkward response and walkout did not sit well for some fans of Bachelor Nation. Many took to Twitter to slam her for her reaction.
However, she wrote in her People blog post on Wednesday that her reaction was simply her taking time to process Colton’s news.
“When he opened up and told me that he was still a virgin, I was surprised. I took a moment to myself to think,” she explained. “To me virginity is a meaningful thing, and I respect him for holding that so sacred. That being said, I am taking this process very seriously and I know Colton is as well. It was something I needed a moment to think about, with hometowns and eventually fantasy suite right around the corner. I would never judge someone for being a virgin.”

She added, “In this journey, though, I have multiple relationships, and so I wanted to be certain that Colton and I had a future before continuing a physical and emotional relationship. I know how much weight that holds. I was confident that what Colton and I had was real, and so I was ready to take our relationship to the next level at our own speed. I was glad that Colton was able to be so vulnerable with me.”
