Not For The ‘Squeamish!’ James Van Der Beek Shares Graphic Home Birth Photo
James Van Der Beek’s wife Kimberly welcomed their fifth child on Friday, and the Dawson’s Creek actor is giving fans a behind-the-scenes look at her home delivery. Warning! For some, James’ pic may be a little too up-close-and-personal.
In the photo, James is sitting on the floor cradling his newborn daughter Gwendolyn as his son stands next to him in a Spider Man costume. James captioned the pic, “The category is: Home-Birth Realness. (Word of caution, if you’re squeamish, just double-tap and move on.)”
While the pic captures a sweet moment, it also shows off the “squeamish” site of Gwendolyn’s umbilical cord still attached to the placenta!

James then listed a series of items that can be seen in the pic: “Messy bed, Plastic sheeting underneath old sheets, Old towel crumpled on the floor, Vomit bag (unused), Inflatable birthing tub (also unused), Shirtless Dad, Boy in Spider-Man pajamas, Happy, healthy baby, Happy, healthy Mom in her own shower right after giving birth, Water bottle, And…placenta in a mixing bowl (I warned you).”
James and his wife announced they were expecting their fifth child in February. They are already parents to Olivia, Emilia, Joshua, and Annabel.
