Jussie Smollett Arrested For Allegedly Lying About Attack
Jussie Smollett has been arrested for allegedly lying about an attack.
The Empire actor was taken into custody in Chicago on charges of filing a false police report on Thursday, February 21st, Chief Communications Officer Anthony Guiglielmi tweeted. Late Wednesday night, the 36-year-old actor was charged with filing a false police report and disorderly conduct for allegedly staging the attack. If Jussie is convicted of the crime, he could face one to three years in prison.
As it was previously reported, Jussie claimed that he was verbally and physically assaulted in Chicago on Tuesday, January 29th. He claimed that racial and homophobic words were yelled at him and a rope was allegedly wrapped around his neck. He also claimed an unknown substance was poured on him.
Over the last month, more details began to emerge regarding the incident and the other two men that were involved, Olabinjo Osundairo and Abimbola Osundairo. The two were initially arrested and then released. According to reports, the brothers allegedly claimed to the police that they were hired and paid by Jussie to attack him.

According to reports, Jussie is due in court for a bond hearing at 1:30 p.m. Thursday.
