Brand-new parents Beyoncé and Jay-Z have yet to speak out about their newborn daughter's name, Blue Ivy Carter, but fans of the dynamic duo are starting to predict why they gave their little girl the unique moniker.
First off, the couple's notorious love of a certain number comes to mind when questioning the name. Beyoncé and Jay-Z adore the number four, which holds a special meaning to their relationship. Beyoncé was born on Sept. 4, Jay-Z was born on Dec. 4, the couple were married on the fourth day of the fourth month of the year, April 4, and Beyoncé's latest album is titled, 4. And if that isn't enough proof of their love of the number, Beyoncé and Jay-Z have matching tattoos of "IV" on their ring fingers. Interesting, right?
Well, theorists — aka fans and followers of the pair — are assuming that Blue's middle name, Ivy, stands for four or IV.
Now, onto the meaning behind Blue. People are assuming that Blue has to do with Jay-Z's use of the color. The rapper's series of Blueprint albums — The Blueprint, The Blueprint 2: The Gift & The Curse and The Blueprint 3 — hint that he might have decided on the name. Not to mention he raps "My favorite hue is Jay-Z blue," in his song "Go Crazy."
And coincidentally (or not), Jay-Z and Beyoncé reportedly received — and gave away — blue-themed gifts over the holidays, rather than the sterotypical pink.
