James Franco has a new art project that involves a switchblade and his right arm.
James carved Brad Renfro‘s name into his arm with a switchblade — all in the name of art.
According to the Los Angeles Times‘ Culture Monster, James’ new art project, Rebel, is an exhibition at the Venise Biennale in honor of the film, Rebel Without a Cause.
James pays tribute to his 2002 Deuces Wild co-star, Brad, by carving his name in his arm. Brad passed away in 2008 of a heroin overdose at the age of 25. According to LA Times, the carving of the name is documented in photography and film.
Rebel is a site-specific installation/exhibition that includes contributions by Douglas Gordon, Harmony Korine, Damon McCarthy, Paul McCarthy, Ed Ruscha and Aaron Young.
But it seems like James was the only one who came himself his own tattoo for the project.
