Maria Menounos is making headlines for openly discussing her decision to freeze her eggs at the age of 33 so she can work a couple more years before having children. Do you agree with her decision?
“To me, parenting is the most difficult job in the entire world, and when I do it, I want to be committed, and I want to be 100 percent ready to take it on and be the best mom I can be,” Maria, the co-host of Extra, told Good Morning America today. “Right now, I don’t find myself in that position.”
Maria first spoke out on her decision last Thursday on Lifechangers with Dr. Drew.
“I’m 33, and I decided that I know I have a couple of years of work I want to get to, and then do it,” she explained.
Since Maria’s decision is controversial, why did she decided to go public with it?
“For me, this is important … because now we can show women there is an option if you need it and if you want it and if you think it’s right for you,” Maria explained on GMA.
The 33-year-old has been dating director Keven Undergaro for 13 years and says her decision to freeze her eggs doesn’t mean she won’t trying having a baby naturally first.
“It’s a bit of an insurance policy,” she explained. “It doesn’t mean that in two years or three years I’m not going to try naturally, but at least I have this in case there’s a problem.”
What do you think of Maria’s decision?
