Tennis Player Serena Williams Wins First Gold Medal at 2012 London Olympics

Serena Williams has won every major title in tennis except the Olympics...until yesterday when she got her hands on Olympic gold!

She trounced on her opponent, Maria Sharapova, and became the second woman to win all four major tennis tournaments and Olympic gold. Steffi Graf is the other woman; she accomplished the feat in 1988.

Jay Berger, the men's coach of the U.S. Olympic tennis team, told The New York Times, “One of the most dominating performances in the history of the sport. She just showed she’s the best player in the world right now.”

When asked by NBC right after her victory about her opponent, an exuberant Serena quipped, "I don't think it's her. I just think today I played well."

Considering tennis has been played on Wimbledon grounds and Serena's the reigning Wimbledon champ, it seems like the British grass courts agree with her. Could double gold be on the horizon for the dominant champ?
