At 45, Jennifer Aniston looks amazing. But like any bride-to-be, the actress, estimated to weigh 123 pounds, confessed that she could still stand to drop some weight “if I was being super picky.” As she explained at the time, “That is just where I have always been really comfortable, at about 110 to 113 pounds.”
Now, a source says, Jen is planning to do just that, to ensure that she’s as slim as possible for her upcoming wedding to actor Justin Theroux. “She doesn’t think she’s overweight by any means,” the source reports, “but she’s always said that she feels most confident when she looks a certain way. And there’s no doubt she’ll want to have that same feeling on her wedding day.”
To some fans, Jen’s laser-like focus on her appearance might seem absurd. After all, she’s looked consistently gorgeous for two decades. But it’s easy to see why she associates slenderness with success: In her early 20s, she admits she was, “a lot rounder.” “When I first got agents, they gave me some advice: Lose weight,” she has said. She did—and promptly booked her life-changing role on Friends. So it’s no wonder that she has worked hard to maintain her look ever since.
Then, when Justin came into her life four years ago, she relaxed… a bit. In March, she said that his skills in the kitchen often make it difficult for her to stick to her ordinarily strict diet. “Like, hello! Carbonara,” she said, naming just one of his rich, carbohydrate-laden specialties. “It’s a killer. The past couple of years since meeting this man have made me gain a couple of extra pounds. But it’s all worth it.”
The source says that Justin isn’t trying to fatten her up. It’s just that, as a nondrinker, “his idea of fun is going out to great restaurants and trying out amazing food with her.” And if that leads to her gaining a little weight, he’s not going to complain.. “Justin thinks Jen looks absolutely perfect the way she is. He likes her curvier, with a little meat on her.”
Of course, it doesn’t hurt that Jen is a bit more fun to be around when she’s willing to loosen the reins and indulge in a late-night slice of pizza. “Justin supports her, and he wants her to feel amazing—but he thinks her kale smoothies and six-almond-only snacks are a little ridiculous.”
Nevertheless, Jen is determined to be back at her goal weight by the time she walks down the aisle. The source explains: “She has a lot of goals that she wants to achieve, and the biggest one at the moment is getting slim the old-fashioned way: through diet and exercise.” And she doesn’t have much time: All the signs indicate that the big day is fast approaching. The source explains that Jen considers their recent trip to Bora Bora, which was timed to fall on Justin’s 43rd birthday, as being their “last trip before tying the knot.” And, even in paradise, the couple kept their focus on their nuptials, interrupting lazy days by the ocean to check in with their wedding planners over Skype.
Now that they’re back home Jen will be kicking her diet plan into high gear, working out daily (sometimes twice a day!) and consuming lots of lean proteins, veggies and fresh green juices. Just this month, the star admitted “it’s harder at this age [than it used to be]” to lose weight. But if anyone can do it, she can. As her longtime friend (and yoga instructor) Mandy Ingber has said, “Jen is very disciplined. She knows what works and is quite consistent.” The source agrees. “Jen wants to look better than ever at the wedding—and that’s providing her with all the motivation she needs to make it happen. As she recently said, ‘Now I’ll ft into my dress!’”
