'Dancing With the Stars’ Recap: Kirstie Alley & Gilles Marini Just Miss the Semifinals

On Monday night’s Dancing With the Stars, Melissa Rycroft was the leader of the pack with 99 points, while Kirstie Alley found herself once again in the bottom spot with only 79 points. The actress had survived the bottom two before, but lady luck was not on her side last night.
Kirstie and partner, Maksim Chmerkovskiy were the first All-Star couple to be eliminated – and the whole audience booed. “To be asked to come back, first of all, was an honor,” she said. “I wanted to thank Maks because he’s so patient with me.”
When asked what it was like coming back for another season, Kirstie said, “I learned more about dancing, believe it or not!”

As for the second couple to bite the dust last night? Gilles Marini and Peta Murgatroyd just couldn’t make it another week on Dancing With the Stars. While it seemed unfair that the season’s leading man should pack his bags, the less-than-stellar voting was what surely did him in.
“In the end, it was just an incredible experience,” Gilles said. “I tried my very best.” And with a quick shout out to his lovely wife, the actor reminded us why he had us swooning all season. “I want to thank my wife…without her, I’m really nothing.”
Can some one please explain to me what any of next week’s dances are going to actually look like? Don’t worry – even host Tom Bergeron was confused! “I don’t know what the producers were smoking,” he said. “I’m sure it was medicinal.” The pairings for next week are:
- 'Dancing With the Stars': 6 Secrets From the Set — From Eric Roberts' Weak Bum to Dwight Howard's Unpleasant Smell and More
- Sharna Burgess Was 'Hurt' by Julianne Hough's Comment About Her Winning 'DWTS': 'It Just Sucks'
- 'DWTS' Partners Brooks Nader and Gleb Savchenko Seen Playfully Packing on the PDA as They Leave Rehearsal
