From Fresh Faced to Behind Bars—Amanda Bynes' Sad Downward Spiral

Even at just eight-years-old, Amanda's family knew she would someday be a star.

Amanda became a big name with the pre-teen set when she starred on Nickelodeon's "The Amanda Show" from 1999 to 2002.

Still at the beginning of her success, the 14-year-old appeared at the Nineteenth Annual Jimmy Stewart Relay Marathon in 2000.

Two years later she was rubbing shoulders with actor Frankie Muniz at the premiere of "Big Fat Liar" in Los Angeles.

Amanda was a hit at Nickelodeon's 16th Annual Kids' Choice Awards in 2003. "I'm so protected in my Nickelodeon bubble and 'What I Like About You,'" she said around the time.

Amanda showed off her beautiful smile on a 2003 episode of "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" when she and Jim Carrey were guests.

Teen queens Hilary Duff and Amanda posed backstage at The 2003 MTV Movie Awards. "I don't like being compared to anyone or being in a class with someone," Amanda has said. "I'm a teen actress and therefore I'm competing against Hilary Duff. We're different people like everyone else."

Amanda frequently attended events for photo opps, like when she posed with British Palace Guards at the New York Premiere of "What A Girl Wants" in 2003.

The actress showed her humorous side during a 2003 appearance on MTV.

Two years later, Amanda and Shia Labeouf joked around on MTV's "Total Request Live."

Actor Channing Tatum hugged Amanda at the afterparty for the premiere of DreamWork's 2006 film "She's the Man." "I've worked really hard to get to where I am," Amanda said at the time. "Slow and steady wins the race, and I believe in paying your dues."

Nikki Blonsky, Zac Efron, and Amanda promoted their hit movie "Hairspray" on MTV in the summer of 2007.

In 2007, Amanda had a hit movie under her belt and she was well on her way to becoming a business success after she launched her clothing line, Dear.

After "Hairspray" came out, Amanda worked less and less and she began to change. In 2011 she was photographed in Beverly Hills looking sadder than usual. "I feel like if you're an actor or famous, you have to overly prove that you're a normal, cool person," the actress has said.

In April 2012, Amanda was pulled over and arrested in West Hollywood for driving under the influence. "I don't drink so the DUI is false," she insisted.

Before she dyed her hair blonde and began to fall apart, Amanda still looked somewhat put together.

Now she is often spotted around her New York City neighborhood looking worse for wear.

"People have a preconceived notion about who I am and it's interesting," Amanda has said. "It's like picking who you want to win for the Oscars and not seeing the movie."

The mirror has become Amanda's best friend. In recent months she's posted numerous pics and videos posing and making faces at her own reflection.

Amanda loves to spend her time taking pictures of herself sporting wigs, makeup and various outfits.

Amanda once credited her parents with keeping her grounded, but she reportedly hasn't seen much of them since she began her downward spiral.

No secret is off limits for Amanda. She tweets that she hates herself in old photos because she now looks totally different since having plastic surgery on her nose.

Amanda often tweets whatever's on her mind. In one message she claimed to have hooked up with fellow Nickelodeon alum Drake Bell on multiple occasions while filming "The Amanda Show." The tweet was later deleted and she denied she ever wrote it.

Police arrested Amanda on May 23 after staff at the former TV star's NYC apartment building witnessed her smoking marijuana. When cops arrived at her home she threw what looked like a bong out the window. As a result, she was arrested on charges of reckless endangerment, tampering with evidence, and criminal possession of marijuana and sent to Roosevelt Hospital for a pyschiatric evaluation.

The next day, a New York City Police officer led the fallen star into court looking like a hot mess in the same sweatpants, tee shirt, and terrible blonde Barbie wig that she was wearing when arrested.
