Phaedra Parks announced in October 2014 that she was planning to divorce her estranged husband, Apollo Nida, after he reported to a Kentucky prison to begin serving his 8-year fraud sentence. But according to her The Real Housewives of Atlanta castmate Kenya Moore, Parks actually may not be filing her divorce paperwork anytime soon.
RHOA viewers witnessed the breakdown of Parks’ marriage during the seventh season of the reality show. And on one episode toward the season’s end, she even visited a lawyer to discuss the options she had when it came to splitting with her hubby.
Despite all her talk, though, Parks has yet to officially file for divorce from Nida. And Moore recently told OK! that her stalling may be the result of her worries over the “backlash” she’d possibly receive if she left Nida less than one year into his sentence.
“I think she feels like she might get some type of backlash if she files for divorce from Apollo so quickly,” Moore said. “I just think that she always acts out of ‘What is the public going to think if I do this or if I say this?’ That’s probably why she hasn’t filed for divorce. The public’s opinion means more to her.”
Nida has spoken out against his estranged wife since reporting to prison, saying that she hasn’t brought the couple’s two sons, Ayden and Dylan, to see him. An insider also told OK! that during the RHOA reunion show, Parks admitted that she hadn’t gone to visit Nida and “hasn’t taken their two sons to visit Apollo either.”
Parks hasn’t talked much about her timeline for divorce since she first announced her plans to leave Nida last year.
