The 15 Types of Hot Dudes Zac Efron Has Played in Movies
As we celebrate the release of That Awkward Moment this weekend, the first film in which Zac Efron truly embodies his hotness by partaking in sexual and semi-nude scenes, let's look back at all the characters he's played since his Disney days began in 2006. Some of these films are better than others, but in all of them? Zac. Looks. Hot.
HIgh School Musical
Ah, Troy Bolton. The role that started it all. Zac has High School Musical to thank for his fame, for the most part, and we have Disney to thank for making him famous. That is all.
Hairspray
One year after HSM became a hit, Zac got cast as Link Larkin in Hairspray, which proved to the world that Zac would still be hot if he lived in 1962.
High School Musical 2
Then it was time for High School Musical 2 that same year—this movie was the worst of the franchise, but it meant more Zefron on TV so noone was complaining.
Me and Orson Welles
In 2008, Zac took on his first "grown-up" role in Me & Orson Welles where he played a young Broadway star. Also, a hot one.
High School Musical 3
Troy Bolton graduated from East Side High in High School Musical 3, which is also around the time that Zac graduated from Disney for good...
17 Again
17 Again (from 2009) is definitely one of Zac's best movies, where he plays a guy who reverts to his 17-year-old self to try to repair his marriage. His on-screen chemistry with Leslie Mann is amazing.
Charlie St. Cloud
Honestly, Charlie St. Cloud, where Zac played a teen who could communicate with his dead brother, wasn't his best work, but he did look amazingly hot in it and that's pretty much all that matters sometimes.

Then in 2011, Zac played Paul in the ensemble rom-com, New Year's Eve, where he got to makeout with Michelle Pfeiffer. She's so lucky.
Liberal Arts
In 2012, Zac played Nat, a hipster, pot-smoking college kid in Josh Radnor's film, Liberal Arts. This is where his comedic chops really came into play—his character is hilariously entertaining. And again, a looker.
The Lorax
Then the world had this great idea to animate Zac into a Dr. Seuss character, Ted, for The Lorax, where he voiced Taylor Swift's love interest. It doesn't get better than that, folks.
The Lucky One
Zac then played Logan in The Lucky One in 2012, which is based on the Nicholas Sparks book. The film's sex scenes and the shirtless scenes are certainly worth watching.
The Paperboy
Then things got even more serious that same year when Zac played the brother of a guy investigating a murder in The Paperboy, who also had a thing for an older woman (Nicole Kidman). Look at that brooding stare!
At Any Price
And Zac was basically perfect in At Any Price, where he played the rebellious teenage son of Dennis Quaid who just wanted to race some cars. Will Zac ever stop playing a teenager?
Zac Efron
Oh wait, yes he will! Zac played a medical resident in Parkland, his only film of 2013. Based on a true story, his character was the first doctor to examine JFK after he got shot. So grown-up, so still good-looking. Thanks for existing, Zac.
Zac Efron That Awkward Moment
And now, Zac starts off 2014 with a major bang in That Awkward Moment playing Jason, a happily single twenty-something who, along with his two best guy friends, swears off serious relationships. Did we mention that he shows his butt in the film? And his abs? And other things? Cause that all happens.
