The members of Cheap Trick were performing when the stage collapsed at Ottawa Bluesfest Sunday, and it wasn’t from their rock antics. The main stage at the finale of the music festival crumbled when a freak thunderstorm hit without warning last night.
Thousands of fans were in the crowd watching Cheap Trick perform when the storm hit took hold with 50-mile-an-hour winds.
At least four people were injured, Radar Online reports, including one man who suffered a broken pelvis and thigh and abdominal injuries after a piece of the stage pierced his stomach.
The concert was brought to an abrupt end when the storm hit.
“Severe weather hit the stage as Cheap Trick was performing at the Ottawa Bluesfest tonight,” the band wrote on its Facebook page. “The stage blew down and collapsed. Everyone is shaken up but band and crew are all fine.Cheap Trick hopes that everyone who attended the show is also ok.”
They also posted a picture of the destruction, writing, “Everyone is okay and we are so lucky to be alive and hope that all the fans are okay too.”
The American rock band was only 20 minutes into its set when the ferocious storm hit, causing the stage collapse.
